Our Pastor
Pastor

Rev. Rachel Guevara

Began at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church as our Pastor / Head of Staff on March 1, 2025.

She was no stranger to HPC, having filled the pulpit several times over the years.

Rachel previously served at Orenco Presbyterian Church for more than 14 years, first as Youth Pastor and then as Associate Pastor.

She served as a Hospice Chaplain from 2021 to 2025, traveling to assisted living and memory care facilities, as well as private homes.

She is delighted to be at HPC and shares her “traveling” days as a minister are over but time as a Chaplain has given her a unique perspective for and ability to triage in parish ministry.

Rachel’s gifts are administration, preaching/teaching, hospitality, and connecting with people.

Rachel studied Psychology and Theology at the University of Portland, earned her Master of Divinity in 2015 from George Fox Evangelical Seminary, and is a certified Spiritual Director.

She recently remarried, and she and Todd, a hospice chaplain, have three 16-year-olds between them, a 20-year-old, and a pandemic dog.

With any time left in the week, Rachel loves to sit in her backyard and listen to the birds, garden, tend to her home’s neighborhood “tiny library,” and play board games with her kids. She loves Hawaii, chocolate, animals, and taking care of too many houseplants to count.

Nancy Johnson
Office Assistant

Greetings HPC Family,
Most if you know me from my time as a member of HPC for the last 8 years.

I’m pretty sure you already know a lot about me but there may be things you don’t know.
I’m originally from the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York State.

A few years after graduating from college I served in the Army for 7 years first as a Combat Medic and then as a Military Intelligence Officer, stationed at Ft Bliss Texas both times, which is where I met Brian.

We have 3 sons and 4 grandchildren who live in Buffalo New York and Harrisburg Pa. Brian and I have lived in 9 states and are so glad to finally be settled in beautiful Oregon.
I grew up in the Presbyterian church and have served as a youth leader, VBS leader, Sunday school teacher, Tuesday Treasures Leader, deacon and elder.

For the past 20 years I have supported children and adults and their families with Intellectual/ developmental Disabilities and Mental Illness.

I am so blessed to be serving as your Church Office Assistant. I am passionate about the congregation at HPC and serving God.

Stop by the church office and say hi. Blessings
