To prayerfully, financially and through volunteer work, support missions and missionaries locally and abroad who proclaim God’s love to all people; the poor, the hungry, the homeless, and the victims of abuse and disaster.
We at HPC believe that Missions is more than financial support. We believe it is important to be active with as many of the missions we support as possible.
We have members who regularly give their time to many organizations in our area. We are also proud that as a congregation, 10% of our undesignated giving goes toward mission. Our mission commission decides each year where these funds will be sent, and past support has included the following:
- ARMS;
- Firm Foundation In Christ Ministries, Carly Powne
- Habitat for Humanity
- Medical Teams International
- Quiet Waters Outreach
- Village of Hope Uganda
Service Sundays
At HPC, we take part in ‘Service Sundays’ on the fifth Sunday of a month. This occurs about once a quarter. Following a shorter worship service, we participate in service – generally in our fellowship hall, and sometimes off site – benefitting the community. Past service includes packing lunches for those who are unhoused. There are many ways to help in this intergenerational and fun activity!
Fundraisers
We sometimes raise funds for specific causes, including school supply collections for local schools in need, as well as the following:
- October Craft Fair for Village of Hope Uganda,
- Warm Coat Drive for Northwest Children’s Outreach, and
- Three Tables of Christmas Joy where toys, food, and money are collected for local children
- Toys go to the Hillsboro Fire Department toy drive
- Food, and money go to the Oregon Food Bank
There are many ways to assist in this ministry of our church and we encourage you to speak to our Mission Elder if you desire to help! All are welcome at our commission meetings to find out where to get involved.
