HPC Youth Group
8/29/25
Good morning, Youth Group and Parents,
After six months of planning, discernment, and well, God just doing God’s thing, we are ready to announce that HPC YOUTH GROUP IS BACK!!!
Thank you for all of your prayers and support! This is very exciting! Here are some FAQ:
When and where? Youth Group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings. This day and time was chosen in response to our family and parent preferences. So here’s the schedule for the fall:
9/21 6:00 to 7:30 pm at HPC – “My Frito is my Friend!”
10/5 6:00 to 7:30 pm at HPC
10/19 Corn Maze trip, probably 4ish to 8:30 pm, more details coming later
11/2 6:00 to 7:30 pm at HPC
11/16 6:00 to 7:30 pm at HPC
12/7 6:00 to 8:00 pm (times to be confirmed later) at Old Scotch – Christmas Party!
Who’s our youth pastor?
As you are all aware, we don’t have a youth pastor! We are operating by the grace of God and a little luck with a volunteer team. 🙂 There are some ways to help, including with snacks. Next week we’ll have a sign up sheet in the fellowship hall for the congregation’s help – dinner will be on special occasions. Most of the time your kids will have some kind of snack here instead. For special events, such as the corn maze, we’ll need a little more help than usual. And for our regular schedule, we’re hoping to divide up tasks and dates so that no one is overwhelmed. If you’re interested in volunteering, let Rachel know. We also need you to pray – that’s the best help of all!
Can we bring friends?
Yes, yes, and of course. Church and youth group are always open to friends or cousins in town or girlfriends and boyfriends or classmates, whatever! We are not a large group, so our hope is that this youth group will be a welcoming place for your friends, as well. Bring them – we won’t put them on the spot, require them to play games, or require a faith statement from them! You’ll see we’re a pretty good group. 🙂
Is this with the other churches?
We are coming together with Old Scotch Church to do youth group on a regular basis. Youth Group will mostly be at HPC in our new youth room. Old Scotch will be hosting our annual Christmas party!
We are praying for you all as you go back to school. See you soon!!!!

Good morning, Youth Group and Parents!
It feels like so long since we have been together! I hope you are having a fun summer!
We have some things going on next week which we are all excited about!
Thursday, August 7 Next Thursday is our time at Homeplate Youth Services. We are preparing dinner for youth and young adults who are homeless/displaced, serving dinner, and eating there with them, as well. We need your help! And we also need to know how many of you are joining us. Meet at 4:00 pm at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro – use the Main Street entrance. (494 E. Main St. Hillsboro)
Wednesday, August 6 The day before that there are some people gathering at OUR church, to bake some stuff to give to the youth at Homeplate. It is a baking party. The idea is to put some cookies/treats in baggies so that when the youth leave, they can tuck something for later in their backpacks. If you like to bake, you are welcome to join us at church.
- If you can only do one of these things, we need you at Homeplate on Thursday. 🙂
Sunday, August 10 After church on the 10th, we will meet in the Youth Room around 11:30 to talk about youth group for the fall. Youth do not need to come … but parents and potential volunteers, please do! We will talk scheduling/needs/vision/plans and we’ll also enjoy our new youth room. 🙂
☑️ Email me or text me to let me know if you are coming Thursday to Homeplate.
And see you Sunday! – Pastor Rachel

Parents’ Meeting!
Hello youth group parents!
I hope you’re having a great summer! I want to meet to talk about the fall, when the kids go back to school, for kicking off what I think could be consistent youth group nights. I think we found a date that works for most of us. If you aren’t able to attend, please let me know and I’ll touch base afterward. Join us on Sunday, 8/10 after church around 11:30 am in the youth room!
We will cover dreams and hopes for our kids for a youth group experience, volunteers, partnering with other churches, nights/times during the week, special events, confirmation, philosophy of youth ministry, and I think that’s it? Please reach out to us with questions!

Youth Room Revamp
On Saturday, July 5th, we’ll do a Youth Room Revamp, or at least start to! We want to get itready for the fall. This will be super laid back so if you have a friend to bring, bring them. We will BBQ – what do you want to BBQ? And have some chips and soda. AND if you have something you’d like to add to our soon-to-be-odd Youth Room, bring it! A poster, a random lamp, a piece of art work you did when you were 3, a random mannequin you got from a store (one of my old youth groups had that!) — all of that is welcome. We have some stuff at home and I also am keeping an eye on thrift shops, etc. If you aren’t aware – the room is empty now and back to full size!

A couple other announcements:
Hops
Hops game June 13th (next Friday) – if you want to come, text me right away, and if money is tight, tell me that too and we’ll cover it.
Prayers
That’s all! Enjoy the nice, hot weather this weekend and take care of yourselves as you finish up finals … we are praying for you as this school year comes to a close.
Lord … for hearts at peace, no anxiety, and pencil to paper right where it needs to be!
See you soon!
Rachel
Thanks to those of you who could join us on Sunday for a BBQ at Orenco, over the holiday weekend! And thank you to Orenco for hosting. We had a great time, especially a certain someone who made his way down the water slides numerous times (and the other someone who is no longer the “infamous” winner of Uno).
We are praying for you as you finish the school year as strong as can be! After that we’ll be working on the youth room. Finish strong! You’re awesome!
